Echter heeft de helikopter ook de mogelijkheid om luchtdoelen uit te schakelen met air to air raketten. In 2003 is de eerste testvlucht uitgevoerd en sinds dat jaar zijn er ruim 300 helikopters in diverse varianten geproduceerd. Sinds 2012 is de WZ 10 in actieve dienst bij de Chinese krijgsmacht.
