Once weekly subcutaneous injection

To reduce the GI side effects, which mainly occur in the early dose escalation period, semaglutide is given in increasing doses by a prefilled pen by self-injection under the skin (abdomen, thigh or arm) starting at 0.25 mg for a month and gradual increases each month reaching the maximum dose of 2.4 mg at month 5
Practical steps that help: Start on the lowest dose (2.5 mg) and increase gradually Eat a diet based on whole foods, eat 3 balanced a meals a day, and consider protein-rich snacks in between meals if needed Spread fat intake across meals rather than having a lot in one sitting Stay well hydrated, especially if youre experiencing looser stools Keep a brief food diary if symptoms flare up, to identify triggers If diarrhoea persists rather than easing as your body adjusts, ask your GP about bile acid diarrhoea specifically
